How We Help

Connect provides housing and housing-related supportive services

Since 1995, Connect, Inc. has provided housing and housing-related supportive services to homeless and near-homeless individuals, children, and families across Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Assessment of Need

Each individual or household who reaches out for assistance from Connect, Inc. will work with a trained staff person to assess their housing needs and determine how Connect, Inc. can help.

Referral to Outside Resources

When appropriate, Connect, inc. staff may refer households to other social service agencies or local providers to assist the household in meeting their needs.

Emergency Shelter

Connect, Inc. provides emergency shelter to homeless women and families with children at our emergency shelter facilities. The Washington Family Shelter (Washington, PA) and the Welcome Home Shelter (Greensburg, PA) offer private family rooms for families with children and shared dormitory rooms for women. Shelter guests share common areas such as the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry facilities, living areas, and outdoor areas with the guests at each location.

Long-term Housing

Long-term housing programs for those who qualify, Connect, Inc. operates multiple Rapid Rehousing, Transitional Housing, and Permanent Supportive Housing Programs throughout the Southwestern Pennsylvania Region.

Housing Case Management and Service Planning

Each household participating in one of Connect, Inc.’s homeless housing programs or emergency shelters works with specialized housing case management staff. Connect, Inc.’s housing case managers are culturally competent and trauma-informed, utilizing evidence-based best practices to assist households in identifying their unique goals, creating an individualized service plan, and obtaining or maintaining their housing.
